On Friday 1st Oct Dinosaur Coast and the Broome Museum opened the dinosaur display and museum grounds to an excited and appreciative public.
Supported by Lotterywest, families, tourists, budding paleontologists and dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages entered and were entertained free of charge.
Visitors were able to wander through the recently renovated exhibit while the Dinosaur Coast and Big Mama dinosaur puppets entertained and delighted the crowds.
While snacking on locally made sandwiches and scummy cake, visitors learned all about the formation of the Broome sandstone and how the 130 million year old tracks were formed from paleontologist Dr. Steve Salisbury who beamed in from the Uni of Queensland onto the big screen.
Other activities on the day included the kids dinosaur mask parade, that they had been busy making throughout the afternoon. Prizes were awarded for the best mask, loudest roar, and the best costume and where enthusiastically judged by the loudest response from our impartial panel of parents.
