Erosion, weathering and trace fossils

Broome North Primary School year 4 students are studying erosion and weathering, so we explored Entrance Point beach.

Water channels that left their shape in the 130-million-year-old Broome Sandstone.

The rock and the sediment layers tell a fascinating story if you take time to look, listen and learn.

Thanks to Dianne and Leong for showing everyone around and to Nadia for the photos.

The sediment layers are so clear
Lots of sauropod footprints at varying degrees of weathering
The track has weathered away like onion rings
Thalassinoides burrows
